How a reefer actually works
Unlike an insulated dry box, a reefer runs a closed-loop refrigeration cycle — compressor, condenser, evaporator — driven by a digital controller. Set your target temperature once; the unit cycles between cool, defrost, and (when needed) heat to hold it within a tight band, indoors or outdoors, summer or winter.
- Holds set point regardless of ambient temperature
- Cools and heats — protects against freeze and over-temp
- Continuous-duty rated — these are over-the-road cold chain units
